| Subject of Essay: Discuss the
following statement by Michael Manley in his book “The
Poverty of Nations”: “In countries like Jamaica, women
are becoming the best scholars and the most able and
dedicated administrators, yet they continue to suffer
disadvantages in terms of the law and in economic
opportunity.”
Length of Essay: 1,200 - 1,500 words
Criteria for judging: Essays will be judged on
content, relevance, style and organisation. Entries must
cite references and attribute quotations. Essays will be
checked electronically and any essay showing signs of
plagiarism will be automatically disqualified.
Presentation Format: Typed, double-spaced with
adequate margins on letter-size paper; accompanied by a
digital copy.
Mode of delivery of entry: Entry, bearing the
Principal’s signature and the school’s stamp, to be
submitted by post or hand-delivered to: The Michael
Manley Foundation, 1A Hope Boulevard, Kingston 6
Michael Manley Centre: The resources of the
